Packaging:

Lucy ensures all portraits are securely packaged to provide a high level of protection, but also likes to think it makes the unwrapping experience a little more exciting… because lets face it, most of the post we get on a day to day basis is pretty plain and boring!

Firstly, the portrait is carefully packaged into a glassine envelope which is acid-free and protects the drawing from any outside substances. It is then wrapped in acid-free tissue and secured with natural twine or hessian ribbon before being placed inside a strong cardboard envelope or jiffy. A care guide is included which provides useful tips for keeping your artwork in pristine condition once opened and suggestions for how to best frame the work. Each artwork also comes with its’ own certificate of authenticity which is printed on handmade Lokta paper; a traditional Nepalese paper that supports local communities in Nepal.

As someone who cares for the environment and conservation it is extremely important to Lucy that her business is as eco-friendly as possible. She has worked hard to ensure all packaging is either recyclable, compostable or biodegradable; and includes a little sheet which provides some tips on how to best dispose of each packaging component.

Commissions don’t come mounted or framed as Lucy believes this stage to be a very personal choice, and one that can depend upon the placement of the portrait within your home. However, if you’re based in the UK and this is something you would like, Lucy can organise for an additional cost. She has a local framer that is registered with the Fine Art Trade Guild and uses 100% wooden frames, acid-free mounts, conservation board and has the option of UV protective and anti-reflective glass. Estimated cost for framing of an A4 work is £50 and for A3 is £80, however Lucy will be able to provide you with the exact quote at the time.

If clients ask for framing and do not live locally to Grantham in Lincolnshire, they acknowledge that despite every care when packaging framed work, there is a risk of damage during shipping.
